
Sr. AI Engineer

As a Sr. AI Engineer, you will help design, build, and support practical AI-enabled solutions that improve business processes and expand AI capabilities across Corning Optical Communications. This role is focused on hands-on software engineering, Python development, API integrations, LLM-enabled applications, and enterprise-ready AI solutions. You will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver AI applications, tools, and integrations that are scalable, maintainable, and easy for users to adopt.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support AI-enabled applications, tools, agents, and integrations using Python, APIs, LLMs, and enterprise platforms.
- Build and improve solutions that connect AI capabilities with user-friendly applications and business workflows.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to understand needs, translate them into solutions, and support successful implementation.
- Contribute to reusable development patterns, documentation, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous improvement of AI solutions.
- Mentor or guide junior engineers by sharing technical knowledge, supporting project delivery, and promoting strong engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, AI engineering, application development, automation, integration development, or related technical roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python in professional or enterprise environments.
- Experience working with APIs, JSON payloads, application integrations, models, or LLM-enabled applications.
- Professional experience building or supporting technical solutions, applications, automations, or AI-enabled tools within a company or business environment.
- Familiarity with Generative AI, LLMs, chatbots, AI agents, RAG concepts, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted workflows.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Advanced English communication skills.
Desired / Nice to Have
- Experience with Databricks or Databricks Genie Spaces.
- Experience with chatbot platforms, enterprise AI assistants, CorningGPT-style integrations, or internal productivity tools.
- Experience with model-serving endpoints, AI orchestration patterns, MCPs, or workflow automation.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical guidance.
- Experience working in enterprise software, manufacturing technology, automation, analytics, cloud/data platforms, or AI enablement teams.
