About the role

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Mercado Libre, you will design and scale innovative and secure systems that solve real, high-impact problems. You'll work in a dynamic environment with cutting-edge technology, applying engineering best practices, proprietary AI models and continuous learning, with the purpose of democratizing e-commerce and financial services in Latin America.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and scale serving infrastructure for LLMs and other machine learning models, ensuring high availability, performance and compute efficiency.
• Implement and optimize end-to-end MLOps pipelines, from training and fine-tuning to deployment and monitoring in production.
• Manage and optimize the use of specialized AI hardware, maximizing throughput and minimizing infrastructure costs.
• Design platform architectures based on Kubernetes, containers and autoscaling, applying Infrastructure as Code in multi-cloud environments.
• Define observability strategies for ML systems, implementing metrics, logs and dashboards that ensure reliability and traceability of models in production.

Requirements

• Master Python, Java or Go applied to Machine Learning backend service development.
• Possess knowledge in MLOps or DevOps, and technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker and Terraform.
• Have familiarity with knowledge in LLMs, transformer architectures, model fine-tuning. Desirable: experience with serving technologies such as vLLM, Triton or SGLang, and specialized AI hardware.
• Handle cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Coreweave, along with model registry and observability tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, Grafana, Prometheus and Datadog.
