Team Overview
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences.
Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC's 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow, and succeed internationally, the Digital Platform Delivery & Architecture (DPDA) group in EDC plays a critical role in enabling leaders to leverage technologies by providing an easy-to-use, secure and fit-for-purpose digital business platform.
To strengthen our delivery capabilities, the Digital Platforms group is seeking a Senior Developer with specialized expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help establish and advance EDC's AI-enabled software development capabilities. This role will focus on designing and implementing AI-powered developer experiences, integrating AI into software engineering practices, and accelerating the adoption of modern development approaches across the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
This position combines design and hands-on engineering. The early period involves substantial consultation and architecture work; thereafter it is predominantly implementation. Candidates seeking only one of these will not find the role a good fit.
Responsibilities
- Leverage strong full-stack software engineering expertise across React, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, .NET, APIs, cloud services, and modern DevOps practices to design, build, and operate Agentic SDLC Operating System.
- Design practical agent driven workflows that automate common development activities like requirements gathering, scaffolding, test execution, code analysis, and structured validation.
- Embed AI-assisted development into delivery workflows, leveraging tools like GitHub Copilot, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise, and Azure Foundry capabilities to improve developer experience and delivery efficiency.
- Design the target state by partnering with analysts, architects, developers, testers and release leads to identify delivery effort, bottlenecks and rework; prioritize high-value agent use cases; and clearly identify activities that should not be automated.
- Design narrow, single-purpose agents, delegation patterns, approved and restricted tools, named human approval points, and controlled context and state management.
- Implement secure retrieval across authorized work items, source repositories, design records and meeting records, enforcing source-level access based on each agent's identity.
- Implement hands-on integrations with source control, work tracking, CI/CD pipelines, testing platforms and telemetry services.
- Create reference implementations, repository standards, reusable templates, onboarding guidance and engineering conventions that other delivery teams can adopt without ongoing dependency on the originating team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on full-stack software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale production systems, including web applications, APIs, microservices, integrations, and cloud-native solutions, with strong coding, testing, and release discipline.
- Strong full-stack development expertise across modern front-end and back-end technologies, including Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, .NET, APIs, microservices, integration patterns, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience using GitHub and modern developer platforms as engineering systems of record, including pull request workflows, code reviews, branching strategies, repository governance, automation, and engineering telemetry.
- Experience designing, building, and integrating AI-enabled developer experiences, AI agents, copilots, or Agentic SDLC capabilities into enterprise software delivery workflows.
- Strong experience with cloud architecture, identity, networking, platform engineering, and security controls, ensuring AI and software delivery solutions align with enterprise governance, risk, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Experience creating reusable engineering assets, frameworks, standards, reference implementations, templates, and accelerator patterns that enable adoption across multiple teams and product portfolios.
- Experience building retrieval-augmented (RAG) solutions, enterprise knowledge grounding, semantic search, and secure access-controlled retrieval patterns.
- Experience in Enterprise application architecture, distributed systems, microservices, API-first design, and event-driven integration patterns.
Advanced knowledge in:
- Web services and integration technologies, including REST, JSON, SOAP, OpenAPI, and enterprise integration frameworks.
- Identity and access management, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Entra ID/Azure AD, workload identities, and secure application authentication.
What will make you stand out
- Microsoft AI and Azure certifications.
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).
