About the Role

You will join the Expedia Group B2B Machine Learning Science team, which builds end-to-end ML solutions for ranking problems, recommendation engines as well as optimizing our pricing and commission offerings contributing substantial value for our partners and for EG.

This applied scientist role joins the Revenue Optimization ML team at Expedia Group. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse challenges and contribute to cutting-edge solutions that drive significant impact for the business. You will gain expertise in commercial acumen, engineering, analysis, and applied machine learning at scale.

This role requires an individual that has a solid foundation in machine learning and engineering, is passionate about driving meaningful impact whilst being mindful of the broader context in which their work sits, is comfortable with ambiguity and enjoys the challenge of tackling open ended problems.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement ML models for dynamic pricing, demand forecasting, and revenue optimization
  • Collaborate on end-to-end solutions, from data preprocessing to model deployment in production environments
  • Participate in A/B testing and experiment design to continuously improve our algorithms
  • Analyze complex datasets to derive actionable insights for business stakeholders
  • Contribute to the team's technical capabilities by staying current with the latest ML techniques and technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Clearly communicate your work, methodologies, and results to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Interact with multiple areas of our technology stack to push models to production

Who You Are

  • Education: Ph.D. (preferred) or master's degree in computer science, Machine Learning, Mathematics/Statistics or another related field of science
  • Experience: 2 years of industry experience in applying ML to real-world problems desirable but not required
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, with experience using PySpark and common machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras etc.)
  • Big Data & Cloud: Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP)
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of common machine learning algorithms, statistics and probability theory
  • Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Communication: Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Mindset: Enthusiasm for tackling challenging problems and contributing to innovative solutions, adaptability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
