Junior AI Developer - Milano [DIG]
PwCAbout the Role
Transform your professional aspirations into a success story: join PwC as a Junior AI Developer.
You will enter our Digital Innovation - AI Center of Excellence team: a context where you learn on the job, with mentorship and continuous training, working on products and platforms based on generative AI. We operate in a multicloud environment (predominantly GCP, with projects also on Azure) and with opportunities on internal initiatives, with Italian clients across all sectors and projects in collaboration with the PwC Network (the leader of the AI CoE heads the Global Factory of PwC with more than 50 countries involved).
You will work in teams with senior profiles and build components, prototypes and features that become real solutions: from implementing services and pipelines to integration with interfaces and business processes.
You don't need to arrive "already expert in everything": solid foundations, a builder mindset and a desire to grow matter.
Key Opportunities
- Build Agentic AI applications: autonomous agents for task execution, decision-making and multi-step workflows, with orchestration, tool-use, memory, retrieval and guardrails.
- Work with coding agents (Continue, Claude Code, Codex): integration of open-source assistants and LLM-powered solutions in the enterprise ecosystem (e.g. MCP server, automations for development, testing and documentation).
- Develop products based on agentic frameworks (A2A, A2UI) and new interaction paradigms: experiences that combine agents, dynamic UI and real-time collaboration.
- Contribute to PwC's proprietary platform covering the entire stack:
- Open Source Intelligence with AI scraping and data enrichment pipelines
- Image generation (e.g. fashion) with fine-tuned open-source models and SOTA models
- Audio/music generation with dedicated models
- Video generation with optimization, quantization and techniques like LoRA for efficient deployment
- Design and optimize advanced RAG: multi-document analysis, retrieval strategies, embedding/reranking, dynamic thresholding and prompt design.
- Implement evaluation & observability: metrics, benchmarks and workflows with LLM-as-a-Judge (e.g. deep eval), monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to deliverable quality, work with PM and stakeholder, manage budget/quality constraints, and bring reliable and scalable solutions to production.
- Collaborate in cross-functional teams (design, product, engineering) to build experiences with real impact on people and processes.
What "Being Junior" at PwC Means
In your day-to-day, you will be supported on:
- Group training to learn the main concepts related to AI (LLM, Prompt Engineering)
- Problem decomposition into tasks, estimation and prioritization
- Development of components in Python and API integration
- Iterative improvement (feedback, testing, quality measurement)
- Clear documentation and handover of work
- First steps on cloud and deployment (with team support)
About You
We are looking for people at the beginning of their career (0–2 years of experience) with solid engineering foundations and a desire to grow in a high-innovation context.
You recognize yourself if:
- You have a degree (or are about to complete one) in STEM disciplines (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Physics) or an equivalent path.
- You have good confidence with programming and with at least one of: Python (preferred) or NodeJS.
- You like to "get your hands on" code and prototypes.
- You are familiar with software engineering concepts: structuring a project, writing readable code, using Git, testing (even at a basic level), documenting.
- You are interested in AI (even if you have never used it in depth) and want to learn how to work with LLM and generative systems starting from real use cases.
- You have a "builder" mindset: curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, ability to learn quickly and ask for feedback.
- You know how to work in teams: listening, responsibility, ability to synthesize and collaborate with different figures (technical and non-technical).
- You have excellent knowledge of English, written and spoken.
Plus (Not Required, But We'd Love to See)
- Personal projects / GitHub / portfolio (even non-AI)
- Foundations of REST API, databases (SQL or NoSQL), Docker and/or cloud (even at an introductory level)
- Courses, thesis or side projects demonstrating interest in AI/GenAI (even just experimentation, hackathon, reading group)
Compensation and Contract
3rd level CCNL Commercio (€28,000–€30,000) for candidates without experience or minimal experience
2nd level CCNL Commercio (€31,500–€32,500) for candidates with proven experience in the role
The final offer will also be defined based on the evaluation of your skills and previous experience.
Benefits
- Meal vouchers worth €8
- Supplementary health insurance, extendable to family members
- Dedicated welfare plan
- Wellbeing programs and initiatives
- Education conveniences
