The firm celebrates its 50th year in 2025.
About the Role
The AI Solutions Architect will join MGT's AI Operating Group (AI OG), responsible for internal AI tool development and client-facing AI solution delivery, primarily for state and local government clients. This is a hands-on consulting and building role focused on designing and delivering AI-powered solutions for real client problems across discovery, architecture, build, deployment, and iteration.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end AI solution architectures for client engagements, from problem discovery through production deployment.
- Build and implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, agentic workflows, and multi-agent systems using frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph.
- Architect data pipelines and integration patterns that connect AI capabilities to existing client systems and data sources.
- Work with tool-layer integration standards, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), to connect agents with enterprise systems.
- Develop reusable components, skills, templates, and accelerators that can scale across multiple engagements.
- Collaborate with project leads, consultants, and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution designs.
- Support internal product development across MGT's AI tool suite.
- Present technical architectures and solution recommendations to internal leadership and client stakeholders.
- Participate in discovery sessions and workshops to identify high-impact AI use cases within client organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience; prior AI experience is not required if the candidate demonstrates strong technical problem-solving ability and a successful track record of building solutions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience required.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: LLM-based application development, retrieval-augmented generation architectures, agentic design patterns, prompt engineering, or vector databases.
- Strong technical problem-solving ability and a track record of building practical solutions that work in real operating environments.
- Comfort working at the intersection of consulting and building, including the ability to sit with a client, understand an operational challenge, and translate it into a working AI architecture.
- Ability to learn new technical capabilities, platforms, frameworks, and deployment patterns quickly.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with consultants, clients, executive leadership, and technical teams.
- Ability to independently scope, architect, and deliver technical solutions with minimal oversight.
- A builder mentality, with a bias toward figuring things out, shipping solutions, and iterating based on feedback.
- Comfort with concepts such as RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, cloud deployment, and AI solution architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in consulting, professional services, or client-facing technical delivery.
- Background in data architecture, ETL/ELT pipelines, or analytics platforms.
- Programming experience in Python or similar languages.
- Experience working with cloud-based AI services on any major platform.
Travel Requirements
Remote employees are expected to travel periodically to an MGT office or client location based on business needs.
Success Milestones
- Within 30 days: Understand MGT's current AI tool suite, architecture patterns, and active client engagements, and ship something.
- Within 90 days: Independently architect solutions for client projects and contribute to internal product development.
- Within six (6) months: Lead technical delivery on engagements, mentor team members on AI solution patterns, and shape MGT's approach to new AI use cases.
Why Join MGT
- Join a team actively building and shipping AI products with real tools in production and real clients using them.
- High-visibility role with direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape how AI is delivered across the organization.
- Meaningful influence on the tools, processes, and culture of the team as MGT builds the AI practice from the ground up.
- MGT's philosophy: clean data foundations first, AI layered on top; process understanding before automation; and empowering domain experts to build rather than centralizing AI capability in a silo.
